About D1 Now
D1 Now is a HRB-funded research project which spans NUI Galway and the Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. D1 Now aims to improve engagement between young adults with Type 1 Diabetes and their healthcare providers and ultimately improve their self management and diabetes-related health outcomes.
D1 Now received funding from the HRB through their Definitive Intervention and Feasibility Award (DIFA) in April 2017 to test the feasibility and acceptability of the D1 Now intervention. The D1 Now team are using an evidence-based approach combined with a Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) panel (Young Adult Panel) to further develop the D1 Now intervention to improve positive outcomes for young adults.
Young Adult Panel
The D1 Now study team have successfully formed a Young Adult Panel (YAP) of 18-25 year olds with T1D who are involved in all aspects of the study design and direction and who are opened up the communication between healthcare professionals and young adults.
These Young Adults have a better understanding of what needs to be achieved in order to gain better diabetes care services for their age group.
We are currently recruiting for our Galway and Dublin YAPs. If you are between 18-25 years, living with type 1 diabetes and want to get involved please contact programme manager Blathin at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to speak to a current YAP member about their experiences you can contact D1NowYAP@gmail.com.
We are looking forward to meeting new YAP members!
